What we recommend when the gate runs all day and downtime costs money — storage facilities, contractor yards, apartment entries. Higher upfront cost, dramatically lower cost of ownership.

Sliding gate opener, 3,100 lb class
A solid choice for a single-family driveway cycling a handful of times a day. You give up the continuous-duty gearbox and the commercial safety package, but for a home gate it does the job for a fraction of the price.
Best for: residential driveways, low daily cycle counts, budget-conscious builds.
Keypads, card and fob readers, remotes, telephone entry and smartphone control. Most sites end up with two or three methods — one for residents or staff, one for visitors, one as a backup.
Wire loops cut into the driveway that sense a vehicle. They open the gate on exit and, more importantly, stop it closing on a car that's still in the opening.
A beam across the opening halts the gate when something crosses it; a pressure-sensitive edge reverses it on contact. Commercial installations need to meet UL 325 — these are not accessories.
We run the electrical as part of the job. Battery backup keeps the gate working through an outage, and solar makes sense on entries where trenching power in would cost more than the gate.
We build cantilever slide gates for openings from about 10 feet up to 30 feet. The thing people forget is backdrop: a cantilever needs roughly one and a half times the opening width in clear space alongside the drive for the gate and its counterbalance tail to sit when open. If you don't have that room, a swing gate or a bi-parting design is the answer.
A track gate needs a rail across the driveway, and in Colorado that rail fills with snow, ice and gravel. Then the gate binds, the operator strains, and eventually something breaks. A cantilever gate hangs from roller trucks on posts beside the drive with nothing crossing the ground at all. It costs more up front and it is the right call in this climate.
Gate weight and duty cycle. An undersized motor on a heavy gate is the single most common reason automated gates fail early — it runs hot, wears out and dies. Tell us the opening width, the gate material and roughly how many times a day it will cycle, and we'll spec it properly rather than guess.
Yes. Every operator we install has a manual release so the gate can be moved by hand. For sites where that isn't good enough — gated communities, commercial yards, anywhere access can't stop — we fit battery backup, and solar where running power is impractical.
An automatic gate is a heavy moving machine and it deserves respect. Photo eyes stop it when something breaks the beam, safety edges reverse it on contact, and loop detectors in the drive keep it from closing on a vehicle. Commercial installs also need to meet UL 325 requirements. We don't leave these off to save money.
Often, yes. It depends on the gate's condition, weight and how square it still hangs. We'll come look. If the gate or its posts aren't up to being cycled hundreds of times, we'll say so — automating a tired gate just breaks it faster.
